FISHING REPORT
Monday June 23d, Well, Perch season has been open for a week and it has been ok. Not gangbusters but definitely not bad. As with Perch fishing you have to find them so don’t stay in one place too long, stay 30 minutes or so and if not much happening move a little. All reports have been from the lakeside, from the Horseshoe down to the mouth of the harbor, no inside harbor reports. Haven’t had reports from other areas of the lake but I would assume they are about the same at Belmont, Diversey, Burnham, Etc… They are hitting minnows, fatheads and baby shiners as well as crayfish and plastics tipped with a wax worms or spikes. There have been some Steelhead at Diversey on a variety of baits, best being hair jigs and wax worms bouncing off the bottom. Lots of big Rock Bass in and around the harbors. Sheephead on live crayfish on Horseshoe when winds are N or N/E. Smallmouth still being caught up and down the lakefront on all the usual plastics and smaller live crayfish hooked in the tail and fish the bottom. The Carp on the Chicago River are going crazy., as well as all the other species such as Crappie, Sunfish, Catfish, Etc…Carp are a great fish for sport fishing they put up a great fight! Now that the summer weather has finally arrived get up and get out! Go to an old spot or venture into a new one just have fun! Remember you can’t catch them from the couch! As always call for your up to the minute report, we tell it as we hear it! Hours now are 5am to 8pm 7 days a week!
