Chinook / Kings Caught
Well, last week Joe got his start with 2 Kings on Tuesday morning, then another 1 on Wednesday morning. This week, on Wednesday, Javi got an afternoon surprise From A Nice King.
There have been other reports of one caught here and there, but mostly a lot of hits and misses. As the weather and water temps drop, the salmon will get more active. The usual lures Include Moonshines, Little Cleo’s, and KO Wobblers. We also have an awesome selection of crank baits in stock, such as Thunder Sticks, Livingstons, and Reef Runners. We have a great selection, so come on in and grab a few while they are in stock.
Smallmouth action has been up and down, but there have been some days When they have really been active. Live baits for them are medium shiner minnows, nitro worms, and leeches as well as plastics such as Lunker Hunt, Big Bite baits, Ned rigs, etc…Sheephead (fresh water Drum) have been caught all around but it is definitely better when the winds are outta the north/east.
We no longer have live crayfish, we have frozen, soft shell and hard shell.
The Chicago River is active with all different species of fish.
If you didn’t see it on social media or the news there was a huge carp probably about 30 lbs caught the other night.
Just get up and get out!
You never know what you will catch but you definitely won’t catch them from the couch!
As always call for your up to the minute report, we tell it as we hear it.
Grand Prix Boat Race
They will be having the Chicago National Grand Prix boat races here at Montrose this weekend. I don’t really know what to expect because this is something new. For those fishing early or late I think you are ok but it may be tricky mid morning Then mid afternoon. Belmont could be affected also. Just wanted to give you all the heads up.
