FISHING REPORT
Wednesday June 17th, Perch season Opened back up yesterday and we are opening at 4am now.
the fishing report is; a few people caught there limits of perch others had a few and a few had none. Typical Perch Fishing, find the school catch the fish. Today the weather was not very good and didn’t have many out but did have a customer tell us he caught his limit this morning. Baits of choice were mostly minnows & crayfish (crabs) but i’m sure other baits are working as well.
Smallmouth are kinda on and off. Hitting on large shiners, leeches, pond crabs, nitro worms as well as plastics like ned rigs, swimbaits, gobys, etc…
a few steelhead have been caught on casting spoons. with the water temps holding about 60 at the moment it’s Worth a shot to cast a spoon, crankbait or jig a hair jig off the bottom with a wax worm.
the sheephead (freshwater drum) have been really good this year. They have been hitting on pond crabs, worms and even artificial baits like keitech plastics.
big carp in the harbor too. Doughbaits and corn work well.
This weekend friday through monday is illinois free fishing weekend no fishing licenses needed. It’s also father’s day! So Get Up And Get Out. remember you can’t catch em from the couch!
as always call the shop for your up to the minute report, we tell it as we hear it!
