FISHING REPORT
Wednesday August 6th, We’ll the dog days of summer are upon us! Fishing relatively slow here on the lakefront but elsewhere there is still a lot of fishing going on. Here on the lakefront when the winds go north the Sheephead (freshwater drum) go crazy. Bait of choice is a bottom rig with crayfish. No perch reports lately but every once in awhile someone stumbles upon them and has some fun. Last was a guy about a week to 10 days ago using large shiner minnows. You just never know with those silly fish. Smallmouth are hit or miss the weather patterns have them off and on. Use live bait such as nitro worms, leeches or large shiner minnows for them or all the usual plastics such as Ned rigs, storm GT360s, tube jigs, etc….. Salmon have started hitting up in Wisconsin won’t be long till they are right here in our own backyard. We have all the good lures and equipment that you need to land you that big one! So come on in and check us out! I had the opportunity to hold a fishing event at Gompers Park this past Monday evening with the help of the IDNR and local neighbors and we had a great time. Nothing is more gratifying to me than a youngster catching there first fish and seeing that smile. Of course we had some veteran anglers and they had smiles as well. Some pics posted. So get up and get out somewhere, anywhere because as we say here at the shop you can’t catch them from the couch!!! As always call for your up to the minute report, we tell it as we hear it!
