FISHING REPORT
Monday September 7th, Happy Labor day! I hope everyone is enjoying The holiday weekend. Finally had a great weather weekend. I Know A Lot Of You Were Out Fishing In Many Places. I have to say this has been the best start to a fall Salmon season i have seen in quite awhile. Truthfully we have had a little bit of everything. Let’s start with the salmon. Don’t Forget to purchase your salmon stamp.
lots of kings hitting on spoons and crankbaits. Most have been caught in the dark hours so a lot of glo lures. There have been a few right after sunrise also. Some people have been trying baits like spawn sacs/skein, crawlers, larger shiners i’m just not sure they are hitting bait yet. It is just the very beginning so mostly still an agression bite but It never hurts to try Because you never know.
There has been a nice batch of Coho around as well as Steelhead Trout. they have been caught on a variety of baits throughout the day and night. you can cast spoons, crankbaits or fish with live bait. Large shiners, spawn sacs, crawlers, shrimp, etc…
smallmouth activity has been good. They are hitting large shiners, leeches and nitro worms as well as all the plastics baits in and around the harbors. Some pretty good size ones too.
there was a walleye caught out here on saturday morning by someone casting a glo thunderstick. there were a few perch caught on small minnows. Some rock bass. Sheephead. Just a little bit of everything.
The chicago river has been active with all different species. Here is a pic of a nice catfish from the riverwalk last week as well as a few of the salmon we have had in the shop.
don’t forget to check out our salmon lure mystery boxes! They are a great deal! And During the month of september They also come with a mystery envelope.
life is short so get up and get out you know you Can’t catch em from the couch.
